BLACK BOOK UNIT, BRITISH SECRET SERVICES
Ian Fletcher aka ‘Tallboy’
Director of the supernatural operations unit within British Secret Services. The unit is also known as Black Book.
A forty-something ex-office worker who found that his new house was haunted by the ghost of a murdered girl. Danny travelled to a small Greek island to help track down the girl’s killer. For more back story see Broken.
Lucy ‘Lucky’ Tasker

Once homeless, Jasmine now lives with and works for her guardian Ian Fletcher. She is a supernatural with the ability to seek and find other supernaturals by their glow. She is roughly the same age as Lucky and prefers the moniker Jazz.
Alice is a widow in her mid-90s who can see into possible futures in her dreams. She lives alone in a bungalow in Clacton-on-Sea and likes biscuits.
SPECIAL BRIGADE, RUSSIAN SECRET SERVICES
Director of the supernatural operations unit within Russian Secret Services. The unit is also known as Special Brigade.
A powerful Russian supernatural with the ability to charm men and women (supernaturals included) into doing things they might otherwise not want to do.
Mikhal ‘Misha’ Bakunin
Son of a leading Russian civil servant, Misha is a powerful Russian supernatural with the ability to push women into doing things they might otherwise not want to do. He is unable to charm men or supernaturals and so is jealous of Orlova’s ability.
Spektor is a Russian supernatural with the ability to stop time who worked with Ivanov’s Special Brigade but has recently gone rogue with Bakunin. While her ability is ostensibly the same as Lucky’s it is weaker.
Stepanova is a Russian supernatural Special Brigade agent with the weak ability to charm men and women (supernaturals included) into doing things they might otherwise not want to do. Unlike Aida Orlova she is unable to do this without incorporating her sexual charm into the process.
Orlov is a Russian supernatural Special Brigade agent with the strong ability to seek and find other supernaturals. Unlike Jazz he does not need to be in close proximity to his targets and by entering a trancelike state – aided by vodka – can detect supernaturals in a radius of hundreds of miles.
Vankin is a Russian supernatural Special Brigade agent with the strong ability to block other supernaturals’ powers or mask his colleagues from detection from ‘seekers’ such as Jazz or Orlov.
Belyakov is a Russian oligarch, son of Alexander Belyakov (deceased), who owns numerous national and international businesses both legal and illegal. His father was killed by Andrew Tasker, but he doesn’t know this. He currently lives in the UK. As part of a business deal gone sour, Belyakov ordered members of his security detail Pav Lysenko and Viktor Vernadsky to scare the son of the owner of Carter Haulage UK. The book opens with Pav and Viktor chasing a Subaru in their Range Rover on a country road in Leicestershire.
