In the morning we took the bus to town and tried to sort out a direct day trip to Allonisos island that met with our specific criteria. Unfortunately beyond hiring a yacht nothing ticked all the boxes. Most trips featured Skopelos as well and given that we ‘did that’ last year we didn’t want to do it again so soon, or an overnight stay which seemed a little excessive. We had a couple of salads for lunch at Selini’s Taverna and enjoyed the views of the Old Port.
Kids around the pool continue to irritate and so in the afternoon we walked to a couple of beaches we had not previously visited in the Mandraki area of the island – Agistros and Eleni. We were treated to more great views and a massive ice cream as a reward for walking so far. We went the long way around to Eleni and then found the short route that gets you on a tarmac road to near bus stop 25.
We ate at Salt and Pepper which is a little different (professional) from the other tavernas in Troulos. Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn have apparently eaten there, but that’s not to say they ever went back! We like it, but others say it lacks atmosphere. The music is quite funny at times and it can get a bit insect ridden at times – but then so can the other tavernas.
It was Vassilis’s birthday at Victoria and so after having a couple of cocktails at the cocktail night at the hotel we went back to the Victoria bar for a bit of cake. We are already about halfway through the cocktail list that Pedro challenged us to complete last year and that we vowed to complete on our return.
Pedro has left Victoria’s and opened up a bar in Skiathos Town we think called Pedrock – we found it, but given that it was lunch time it wasn’t open.
